Nanlite PavoTube II 6C

Two-foot full-color tube for hair lights, practical accents, and on-camera fill.

$119

Why it's in the kit

A tube light solves problems a point-source can't. It sits behind a monitor as a backlight, hides behind a door frame for a practical, or mounts behind the camera for a moving fill. The II 6C is the Goldilocks size — long enough to cast even light, short enough to pack in a carry-on.

How I run it

Magnet-mounted behind the Studio Display as a 5600K backlight during streams. For travel, it packs with two lightweight stands in the laptop compartment. RGB mode for walk-and-talk backgrounds that change color as the topic shifts.

What I almost bought

  • Aputure Amaran T4c — More expensive and heavier per foot — the 6C is the right size for my kit.

Skip it if

If your lighting setup is strictly on-camera or you never need background separation, this stays in the bag.

Strengths

  • + Magnetic ends — mounts on any metal surface instantly
  • + Battery-powered, no cable runs for quick setups

Trade-offs

  • Not bright enough to serve as a key light — accent or backlight only
