Elgato Key Light Air
Soft, daylight-balanced front light that makes any call look intentional.
$169.99 each (x2)
Why it's in the kit
Lighting is the difference between 'person on a call' and 'person who looks like they mean it'. The Key Light Air is app-controlled, so I dial in color temperature and brightness from a Control Center shortcut — no leaving the frame to adjust a knob. Two of them, front-left and front-right, is the minimum viable studio.
How I run it
Two of them, front-left and front-right at 45°, mounted overhead on stands so nothing touches the desk. Both at ~5500K, brightness dialed from a Control Center shortcut mid-call.
Skip it if
If you only take calls from a laptop in mixed daylight, a single cheap ring light gets you 80% of the effect.
Strengths
- + No cables to the desk — mounts and powers overhead
- + Software control beats physical dials mid-call
Trade-offs
- − Wi-Fi setup is finicky on segmented networks
