Why it's in the kit

One box replaced a rack of gear. It powers the SM7B cleanly, applies broadcast compression and de-esser per channel, and records every input as a separate track straight to SD — no DAW required. For solo creators who want studio sound without becoming an audio engineer, this is the answer.

How I run it

SM7B on channel 1 with the broadcast compressor + de-esser enabled, music bed on a pad, USB-C into the MacBook as the interface. Records multitrack to SD as a backup while piping clean audio to the stream.

What I almost bought

  • Zoom PodTrak P4 — Cheaper and portable, but no per-channel processing — I'd be fixing it in post.
  • GoXLR Mini — Streamer-focused, but the preamps are noisier than the SM7B deserves.

Skip it if

If you only ever record solo with one mic into a DAW, a $200 audio interface does the same job.
