Agency, Taste, Distribution

Agency, Taste, Distribution

AI is making production cheap.

Writing, design, research, code, video, landing pages, pitch decks, and simple products are now easier to create than ever. What used to require a team, budget, and weeks of work can now often be tested in a single afternoon.

That is powerful, but it also changes the game.

When everyone can produce, production stops being rare. The internet will not lack content, tools, brands, or ideas. It will lack direction, quality, and attention. The advantage will not belong to the people who generate the most. It will belong to the people who know what is worth making, how to make it good, and how to make the right people care.

In the AI age, three skills matter more than ever: agency, taste, and distribution.

Agency: Make Reality Move

Agency is the ability to move without waiting for permission.

It is not just motivation or “working hard.” It is the combination of clear thinking, fast action, and enough disagreeability to ignore people who confuse difficulty with impossibility. A high-agency person does not freeze when the path is unclear. They define the problem, break it into smaller steps, and start moving.

This matters because AI rewards people who act. The distance between idea and execution has collapsed. You can test a concept, build a rough version, write the copy, publish the page, and collect feedback before most people finish debating whether the idea is worth trying.

Low agency looks like waiting for perfect conditions. It looks like vague thinking, overplanning, asking for permission, or assuming someone smarter is supposed to tell you what to do. High agency is the opposite. It asks: What is the real problem? What is the next step? What can I test today?

When the cost of creating goes down, the cost of waiting goes up.

Taste: Filter the Machine

AI can generate endless output.

Taste decides what deserves to exist.

This becomes more important, not less, as tools improve. The problem is no longer making something. The problem is making something good. Anyone can generate a logo, article, video, interface, or product idea. Far fewer people can tell when it feels generic, cheap, empty, confusing, or forgettable.

Taste is judgment. It is knowing what to keep, what to cut, what to sharpen, and what to completely rebuild. It is the difference between using AI as leverage and using AI as a machine for polished garbage.

Most people will use AI to produce more. The best people will use it to choose better.

They will know when a sentence has no edge, when a brand sounds like every other brand, when a product solves the wrong problem, or when a piece of content has no reason to exist. In a world of infinite output, judgment becomes the scarce skill.

Distribution: Make the Work Matter

A good idea with no distribution is invisible.

A good product with no distribution is a ghost town. A good article with no distribution is a private note with better formatting. Creation is not enough. The work needs a path into the world.

Distribution is the ability to get attention and move it somewhere useful. It means understanding platforms, communities, timing, positioning, narratives, incentives, and calls to action. It is not just posting more. It is knowing who the work is for, where those people already are, and why they should care.

This is where many builders fail. They believe good work should speak for itself. Sometimes it does, but usually it whispers inside a very loud room.

AI can help create the asset. Distribution turns the asset into impact.

The Real Skill Stack

Agency helps you start.

Taste helps you make it good.

Distribution helps you make it move.

Without agency, you wait. Without taste, you produce noise. Without distribution, nobody sees the work.

This is the real skill stack of the AI age. Not prompting alone. Not building alone. Not posting alone. The winners will be the people who can turn vague ideas into specific action, filter infinite output with taste, and deliver the result to the right audience.

AI gives everyone more power.

But power without agency is unused. Power without taste is noise. Power without distribution is invisible.

The future belongs to people who can direct the machine, choose what matters, and make the world pay attention.
