Why it's in the kit

I don't always have the A7 IV with me, but I always have this. ProRes Log turns b-roll captured on a walk into footage that cuts cleanly next to the mirrorless body. For solo creators, it's the legitimate B-cam — not a compromise.

How I run it

In a MagSafe wallet case with a small grip for handheld. ProRes Log to internal storage when I'm shooting b-roll that has to cut next to the A7 IV; standard when it's just reference capture.

What I almost bought

  • DJI Osmo Pocket 3 — Better stabilization for walk-and-talk but it's a second device to carry.
  • Older iPhone — No ProRes Log — the b-roll won't sit next to the A7 IV without a fight.

Skip it if

If you don't edit in ProRes, the camera upgrade alone isn't worth the cycle.
